Fat Injections

Think about how gaunt a 90 year old person usually appears - this is the exact opposite as to the other end of life when you remember how round and full a baby’s face looks. There is no doubt that our faces shrink with time, particularly fat.

During the fat transfer operation, fat must be delicately removed from the donor site, carefully processed, and injected into the targeted areas with very fine instruments. When these measures are compulsively followed, the transferred fat has the best chance to restore fullness. However, it must be understood that even under the best conditions not all of the transferred fat permanently survives. Several months after a fat transfer operation when the surviving fat can be more accurately determined, an appraisal can be made as to whether a satisfactory result has been achieved or if another attempt should be considered to add more volume.

When fat successfully fills out the atrophic facial areas that have lost volume with aging, it is often remarkable how youthful the face becomes. Sometimes this is the only measure needed to rejuvenate a face.
