Medspa for Residents of the East Bay - Fremont, San Jose, Pleasanton, Danville, Walnut Creek, and Oakland

The Fremont Plastic Surgery Medspa offers an office-based program promoting a more youthful appearance. It offers methods to camouflage some of the changes commonly noted with age as well as technology dedicated toward skin rejuvenation. Moreover, it integrates its philosophy with that part of the Skin Care Clinic that is devoted to healthier and younger skin.

Part of the Medspa program has been discussed in the "Face" page, where BOTOX® and facial fillers were covered. These are "injectable" methods of disguising facial wrinkles that appear with age. The Blue Light, the PhotoActif Red Light, and PhotoDynamic Therapy also contribute to the goal of promoting good skin.

Thermage® is another pedestal for our Medspa. Approved by the FDA in 2002, this new technology is not a laser. Instead, Thermage uses radio frequency waves that spare the superficial layer of the skin and seek deeper targets in the dermis and the connecting septae form the skin to the muscle layer. Collagen, a very important component to the skin that depletes with aging, has been scientifically shown to increase after a Thermage® treatment. This is the factor thought to cause skin tightening that should last for at least 2 years. It is unpredictable as to how much skin tightening will occur. Sometimes it is very subtle while other times it is quite noticeable. Make no mistake, Thermage® does not replace surgical options such as face lift, brow lift, and blepharoplasty; however, it does offer an option for certain select patients - such as those who fear surgery, those who do not have the time for surgical healing, and especially those with early aging signs who seek only subtle, non-surgical improvement.

Finally, brown age spots or superficial blood vessels are commonly seen as skin blemishes. They are usually due to either aging skin or skin unprotected from the damage that sun causes. An Intense Pulse Light effectively treats these skin discolorations and the result is called "photorejuvenation." Multiple sessions are required for the optimal effect.

It should be reemphasized that the combination of all of these office techniques will generally fall short of what can be accomplished in the operating room. However, it is also recognized that if multiple measures are applied, the results can provide adequate improvements in an office setting where the patients didn't have to break stride with their busy schedules.

Please contact Fremont Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery to find out more about this alternative pathway toward youth.
