Arm Lift & Thigh Lift

Excess fat and/or loose skin can often accumulate in the arms, as well as the thigh area. This is typically caused by factors such as heredity, significant weight loss, or the natural aging process. Dr. Eric Okamoto, our board-certified plastic surgeon, can perform an arm lift and/or thigh lift to tighten skin, remove excess fat, and ultimately create a more contoured and smooth appearance.

If you are interested in one or both of these procedures, please contact us to learn more or to schedule a consultation with Dr. Okamoto.

Benefits of Arm Lift

Dr. Okamoto’s patients have expressed great satisfaction with the results of their arm lift surgery. Many are proud to be able to properly show off the results of recent weight loss, while others are simply excited to have a more youthful, toned appearance to their arms. Some other benefits of an arm lift include:

  • Removal of loose, inelastic skin
  • Smoother, tighter appearance to arms
  • Reduction of fat in the upper arm area
  • Improved confidence, especially when wearing clothing that bares the arms

Benefits of Thigh Lift

A thigh lift has helped many of our patients restore a contoured, healthy appearance to the thighs. This is particularly important to our patients who have recently lost a significant amount of weight and were previously unable to see the results of their hard work and dedication. Some other benefits of a thigh lift include:

  • Increased clothing options for individuals who may have been unable to find garments that fit properly prior to surgery
  • Improved ability to exercise comfortably
  • Reduced chance of skin irritation from folds in the skin
  • More manageable personal hygiene

Arm Lift and Thigh Lift Procedure

During these procedures, Dr. Okamoto can remove excess fat and skin. While scarring cannot be avoided, Dr. Okamoto can strategically place the necessary incisions so the resulting scars may be concealed as much as possible. Most patients have reported that they are happy with the results of these procedures, and therefore do not mind the scarring. Depending on your individual concerns, Dr. Okamoto will select an appropriate technique that can potentially minimize scarring. In certain cases, desired results may be achieved through liposuction alone.

Recovery from Arm Lift

After surgery, your arms will remain swollen for a few weeks. Any pain or discomfort experienced after the procedure can typically be managed with medication. Although light arm movement is encouraged during recovery, Dr. Okamoto advises patients to avoid any strenuous activity for several weeks. Additionally, Dr. Okamoto will provide you with detailed post-op instructions, which should be carefully followed in order to achieve optimal results.

Recovery from Thigh Lift

Following thigh lift surgery, some bruising, swelling, and tightness may be experienced, but this should improve over time. Dr. Okamoto recommends light activity during recovery to help prevent blood clots, but any strenuous activities or sports should be avoided for several weeks. Medication can help manage any potential pain or discomfort experienced during the healing process. Most patients are able to return to their daily activities after a week, but any heavy lifting, prolonged standing, or excessive walking should be avoided for several weeks, as advised. Depending on your usual level of activity, Dr. Okamoto can provide you with customized post-op instructions.
